Printing the On-Line Catalogue

The on-line catalogue for this auction can be printed for reference. When printed out, the web specific parts (site navigation etc.) should be automatically ommitted from the printed pages and page numbering added, provided you are using a fairly up-to-date web browser. However, when attempting to print the on-line catalogue, always select the print preview option and adjust the page set up options prior to making the actual print. This could save wasting paper and ink.

Important Print Settings

The catalogue is intended to be printed on A4 size paper. When printing this on-line catalogue make sure that 'print backgrounds' or 'print background colors' is selected in the print dialog box in order to enable the alternate item highlighting to print.

All web browsers, and even different versions of the same web browser, will give varying interpretations of the printer specific styling that the on-line html catalogue is provided with. We look forward to the day when there is much greater compatibilty between web browsers when it comes to printing web pages! Currently, there is far more variation when printing than when displaying the pages on screen. Printers themselves also vary.

Text Size Issues

Print-out variations between web browsers mainly affect the size of the text. Before making a print, first select A4 size paper and reduce the page margins to .5", if they are currently set larger than this. Alter the 'shrink to fit' parameters to ensure that the text doesn't run off the page. Please use the 'print preview' function for checking the page layout prior to printing. If you are using Widows 7, with Internet Explorer or Firefox, then a 'shrink to fit' value of about 55 to 60% will probably do the job, depending on the page margins you select, or your printer requires. Apple Mac users may not need to set any size reduction, but different versions of Safari still give some variations. When you are happy with the print preview, click the print button and with a bit of luck, you will have a neatly printed catalogue.
