Lot 354 A nameplate, MINORU, from the LNER A1 Class 4-6-2 No 2561 built at Doncaster, Works No 1617, in May 1925 and named after the racehorse owned by King Edward VII which won the 1909 Derby and 2000 Guineas. It was rebuilt and reclassified as an A3 in June 1944, renumbered 62 in 1946 and became BR 60062. Always a Southern area engine, it was allocated new to Gorton and later Doncaster, Grantham, Kings Cross, New England and Copley Hill. It was withdrawn from New England in December 1964 and cut up by Kings at Norwich in March 1965. Cast brass, length 47½", the front repainted. £6000-9000
