Lot 44 A worksplate, No. 2015, DONCASTER, 1947, from the LNER Thompson A2/3 Class 4-6-2 No 524, BR 60524, named HERRINGBONE after the racehorse owned by Lord Derby which won the 1943 St Leger and 1000 Guineas. Allocated new to York in September 1947 where it spent most of its working life before moving north of the border in December 1962 and allocated to Aberdeen Ferryhill and Polmadie from where it was withdrawn on 15 February 1965 and sold for scrap to Motherwell Machinery & Scrap at Wishaw. Engraved brass, 12½"x6½", in ex loco condition. £800-1200
